Vital Statistics

  • Estimated age: 65 - 70 years old
  • Approximate Height and Weight: 5'8" - 6'1"; 180 - 190 lbs.
  • Distinguishing Characteristics: Black/grey hair; brown eyes. He had a mustache and grey beard. He had surgical scars on his lower left leg and upper right leg with metal hardware.
  • Dentals: He had no teeth.
  • Clothing: He was wearing a winter coat, dress pants, long sleeve shirt, a blue hooded sweatshirt and two jackets. He carried cigarettes, a voltage tester, can opener and ear plugs.
  • Other: The victim was known by people in the area as "Wayne" and was also known to walk on the highway. He was possibly an engineer and possibly lost his wife in a house fire in Newark, New Jersey. He cashed change at the Penn Federal Savings Bank on Wilson Avenue in Newark, New Jersey and spent hours in the lobby. His possible last name is "Campbell". He may have lived at one time off of Exit 7 of the New Jersey Turnpike (Bordentown).

Case History
The victim was struck and killed by an automobile at Routes 1 and 9 Northbound near the Delancy Street exit in Newark, New Jersey on May 11, 1996. Victim was living on Delancy Street under the Routes 1 and 9 bridge.
