Reconstruction of Victim by Diana Cullington

Unidentified Caucasian Male

Vital Statistics

  • Estimated age: 30 - 40 years old
  • Approximate Height and Weight: 5'9" - 6'1"
  • Distinguishing Characteristics: White male of European extraction. Dark brown greying hair. Medium build.
  • Dentals: N/A
  • Clothing: He was wearing a navy blue anorak, a Green Leaves corduroy jacket, a red woollen jumper which police say may have been knitted for him, and a round neck brown jumper. He also had size eight and a half Tecnica hiking boots, navy trousers, a blue, Large, Cluttons (Italian make) shirt, a flat woollen cap and a silver Swatch watch. The man was also believed to be an experienced rambler as he carried a series of maps of the area, a compass and a Karrimor rucksack.
  • Other: He could have been foreign as he was carrying Winston and Camel cigarettes. He was also in possession of some quite 'deep' books and was probably a literate man.

Case History
The skeletal remains of the man were found by a member of the Llanbrynmair Hunt alongside a remote mountainside footpath at Mynydd Fronfelen, near Ceinws, Machynlleth, in February 2000.
Despite a nationwide police inquiry, examination of dental records and even DNA testing, the hill walker still remains unidentified.
