Amato, circa 1978

Andrew Amato
Missing since September 30, 1978 from Webster, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Amato played in the woods behind Ash Street Trailer Park, with his sister and cousin during the morning hours of September 30, 1978. They lived in nearby mobile homes on Richards Avenue.
Amato stumbled and fell down. Crying, he got to his feet and started to run around in circles. The other children ran for help. It was about 10:30 a.m. Amato disappeared by the time they returned to the woods.
He was wearing a white Mickey Mouse T-shirt.
It is possible that Andrew walked out to Route 52 and was abducted by a passing motorist.
Authorities excavated a wooded area off of Minebrook Road in June 1998. The forest is approximately five miles from the location of Amato's disappearance. They found no sign of the child's remains.
